FAQ

Who cares for my child?
K.I.C.K. has a team of adult and teen team members who have gone through a background check, reference check and an interview with a staff person.  They have been trained to minister and will take great care of your children!
What will my child learn in K.I.C.K. ministries?

The focus of Early Childhood (birth – KG) is teaching foundational truths about God.  In our elementary ages (first through sixth grade), trained team leaders facilitate learning in both large- and small-group environments so kids will leave KICK knowing God’s truth (Bible story and key verse), why that truth is important for living today (virtue) and how to apply the truth in their own life (application).

When can I check in my child?

Our check-in centers open 15 minutes prior to the service and our individual.

How do I check in my child?

The first weekend you attend, you will fill out a form listing all pertinent information regarding your child (name, address, phone number, allergies, if they exist).  If you have a nursery or early elementary age child, he or she will be assigned a number and a name tag will be issued in his or her name and left at the check-in center.

How do I pick up my child?

We ask that you pick up your child as soon as the service ends so that we can release our team members when all of the children have been picked up.  To uphold our safety value, we will not release a child to anyone other than the parents. We ask you to please stay behind the dismissal line and wait for your child’s name to be called.

Will my child be left alone with one adult?

To uphold our “safe” value, we have established a “two adult rule”.   There will be at least two adults present in or near the room with the kids at all times.

What if my child needs to use the bathroom?

All of our younger children have their diapers checked during the service.  Parents of children this age are encouraged to bring an extra diaper with them (labeled with the child’s name) when they drop off their child.  If a child needs to use the bathroom in ages 3 through 5, the child is allowed to use the bathroom on their own with an adult standing near the door outside of the room to offer assistance if needed.  If assistance is required, the adult leaves the door to the bathroom/stall ajar in order to uphold the “two adult rule.”  Kids in grades kindergarten through 6 have bathrooms in their general area.  An adult stands outside the bathroom to make sure the child is safe.

Can anyone enter K.I.C.K. ministry areas during the service?

Only people with proper identification are allowed to enter during the service. ID’s are checked each time someone enters.

What if my child wants to attend JAM or US 252 Kidz Small Groups during both services?

We discourage parents to send their child to JAM or US 252 Kidz Small Groups during both services. We encourage kids to attend only one of the two hours. The times are 9:15 & 11:30 am. We want your child to connect with the same small group leader every week. For this to happen it is vital that you stay committed to attending the same JAM or US 252 small group hour.

Why should your child attend the same JAM or US 252 Kidz Small Group hour every week?

Your child should attend the same JAM or US 252 Kidz Small Group hour every week to ensure that he or she is with the same group of friends and leader every week.  Your child will have the same leader 1st- 12th grade.

What is Family KonneXion Live (A.K.A. FKL)?

FKLis a family centered, shared worship experience for parents and their kids (Early elementary through 6th grade).  It is an upbeat environment where learning about faith and character is fun and relevant!  The shared experience will enable families to continue to communicate, teach, and lead throughout the week.
FKL is also a great place for families to bring friends with no church background! It is a very predictable, warm, fun and welcoming environment they can appreciate! We do provide nursery and preschool environments during this time.

How long is the FKL Service?

The Family KonneXion Live service is approximately 45 minutes long. We will begin the program at 10:35 A.M. and will conclude around 11:15 A.M.

What do my older children do during Family KonneXion Live Service?

Teens 7th grade and above attend FX Teen Small Groups. It is a small group environment created specifically for them where the thruth that is being introduced at the Family KonneXion Live Service is being taught. We want to give your whole family a jump-start in having some meaning spiritual discussions during the week.

What is the difference between Family KonneXion Live Service and US 252?

Family KonneXion Live Service is a shared worship experience for parents and their kids while US 252 is designed specifically for children to grow in biblical truths and to process what they’ve learned in small group communities made up of their peers and a caring small group leader.

K.I.C.K. ministries looks like fun. What if I want to volunteer?

We would love to have you volunteer in K.I.C.K. ministries!  Some parents volunteer twice a month and others volunteer more frequently.  We are extremely flexible!  There are a variety of ways to serve!  You will need to fill out a K.I.C.K. Volunteer Form, attend a K.I.C.K. 101 Orientation class, and have an informal interview. For more information you can contact us via email or  call the office at 847-985-6446.

Are there other FKL resources available for our family?

Yes. By request, a Cue box will be available for purchase each month. This resource pack is incredible! It includes discussion starters, bedtime stories, encouragement cards, and an audio CD with music from the program, stories for the kids, and parenting tips to help instill the particular virtue in your family.
